Relinquishment & Rescue

Turning Animals Over to NCHS

At the present time, we have limited capacity to accept animals.
Let us be absolutely clear on one point. NCHS is not a dumping ground for people’s mistakes.

General Information:

We have specific limits on the types of species we will house at any given time. Once that limit is reached, we will not accept any further animals of that type.

Required Animal Relinquishment Information

In order for NCHS to accept any animal from the public, state regulatory agencies, animal welfare organizations, or zoological institutions, we MUST have as much information about its background as possible. You will be asked to sign an Animal Relinquishment Form and an Animal Relinquishment Information sheet in order for NCHS to accept your animal.

By signing these documents, the owner acknowledges that he/she has read and understands our policies and accepts them.

Animal Relinquishment Information Sheet

If you want to surrender a reptile, please contact a board member first.
DO NOT fill out a relinquishment form and mail it in, if you have not contacted a board member first.
